Following a networking luncheon, attendees will break into small groups to openly debate the benefits and challenges of technologies such as tire pressure monitoring, 6×2 axles, idle reduction, engine parameters, electronically controlled transmissions, low rolling resistance tires, downspeeding, lightweighting and maintenance. Together we will brainstorm actions to take advantage of these benefits and limit any challenges.

The TruckPAC motorcycle road rally is on Saturday, Sept. 26th and will be kicking off in Salt Lake. The complete route is yet to be determined but will most likely include stops at Gaurdsman Pass, Browns Canyon, Midway in Kamas and lunch in Hanna.

We at the Utah Trucking Association are excited to announce that we have created a 501(c)(3) titled “The Utah Trucking Association Scholarship and Charitable Donations Fund” which will expand the efforts of the Southern Utah Trucking Association Scholarship Fund. The creation of this fund will allow the Utah Trucking Association to give back to the community and raise funds to assist students who are pursuing careers in the trucking industry and related fields. We would like to thank Don Cox of Parke Cox Trucking and Stacey Betteridge of KB Oil for their great leadership in making this wonderful effort a reality.
Our first event to raise money for the UTA Scholarship fund will be the 9th Annual SUTA Scholarship Golf Tournament in St. George, UT! This is a beautiful course and a great opportunity to network with those in the business community as well as help facilitate the education of local students. 2015 Utah Truck Driving Championship


June 5th - June 6th, 2015

Utah State Fair Park

The 2015 Utah Truck Driving Championship will be held Friday & Saturday, June 5-6, 2015 at the Utah State FairPark.  Registration will be Friday, June 5th from   4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  This outstanding annual event is again sponsored and conducted by the Utah Safety Management Council.  Drivers will compete in written test, pre- trip inspections and a 6-problem driving course in the following categories: NO INTERVIEWS WILL BE HELD.

The Champion, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each category will be recognized, along with their companies at the UTA Annual Safety Awards Banquet on September 18, 2015, at Little America Hotel.  The champion in each category will compete at the 2015 National Truck Driving Championships to be held in St. Louis, MO – August 11-15, 2015.

DRIVERS MUST BE ACCIDENT-FREE AND EMPLOYED WITH THE SAME COMPANY FOR ONE YEAR PRIOR TO COMPETITION. DRIVERS MUST PROVIDE A CURRENT CDL AT REGISTRATIONREGISTRATION & FEE MUST (NO EXCEPTIONS) BE RECEIVED AT THE UTAH TRUCKING ASSOCIATION BY 5:00 P.M. MONDAY, JUNE 1, 2015.

He served 12 years as a Regional HR Director for a Fortune 100 company managing the HR function for over 6000 employees. Todd is SPHR certified through the Society of Human Resource Managers. He also participated as an HR Consultant to the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympics. Todd was responsible for hiring 27,000 volunteers. In addition, Todd is on the HR Advisory Board Member for Utah Valley State College. Labor Law Guest Lecturer – Utah Valley State College.

You will receive 90 minutes of training for both alcohol and drug sections in the FMCSA handbook to let you know what your company must do in order to remain compliant and what steps to take should you have any drug or alcohol incidents within your company. Tom Christensen
One of Tom’s proudest moments was when he received a letter of recognition for a Good Samaritan Act on the road. Tom also claims that his greatest achievements are a happy 33 year marriage, 3 children and 4 grandchildren. When Tom arrives at work, he is often met at the door by another driver who has a question for him, Tom is always anxious to take the time to help. In 2009 he took 1st place in the tank division at the Utah State Driver Championship and went on to place 7th in the nation!

Utah Trucking Association Offers All Regulatory Supplies

UTA has, in stock, the most used regulatory supplies for trucking. UTA members receive discounts on supplies. Supplies include driver medical forms, log books, inspection books, placards, federal guidelines, training videos and other items.

Scholarship Application:

This scholarship is sponsored through the generosity of the Utah Trucking Association (UTA) members.  The scholarship is the result of the desire from the trucking industry to give back to the community by helping high school and college students further their education. Qualifying students may receive a scholarship ranging from $200 to $1000 to assist them with tuition, fees and other program costs.

Preference will be given, but is not limited to, students who are working towards an education in truck industry related fields such as:

  • Web Design
  • Members or relatives of members of the Utah Trucking Association

To qualify for this scholarship, the applicant must:

  • Must attach proof of registration to an accredited, trade school, college and/or university. Scholarships may be awarded for professional certificates as well.
  • Must have a GPA of at least a 3.0 or better.
  • Must attach official high school, college or university transcript.
  • Recipient must provide receipt of payment of tuition within 30 days of receiving scholarship monies or be required to return scholarship monies awarded.
  • Must complete and submit the application form and essays below.
  • In order to officially accept the scholarship, student must provide a thank you letter to the donor and submit a copy to sasha@utahtrucking.com.
